This research work was conducted to Characterize the Physicochemical property of lye-extract from wood sawdust and its alternative use in soap-making. The lye extracted from the ashes of the Hard-wood sawdust served as a raw material for the production of liquid and bar soap and its physicochemical property when examined gave Density (D) as 1.00kg/m3 , pH is 7.5, Water content is 53.6% and Viscosity (V) is 2.672 cSt.

Solar PV Electricity Supply for a Bank Office: Techno-economic and GHG Emissions Analyses

Howard Okezie Njoku1* , Chibuike Bethrand Eze2, Chigbo Aghaebusi Mgbemene3, Chibeoso Wodi4, Chukwuemeka Jude Ohagwu5

Persisting power supply issues in Nigeria have recently stimulated reliance on hybrid renewable energy systems, especially considering their environmental benefits. Analyses of the power generation, economic and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction potentials of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for electricity supply to a bank branch were undertaken in this study, relying on the RETScreen energ

Evaluation of the Underutilized Agro-morphologic features of Aroids for improved Food Security, Nutrition, and Economic Development

Unyime Enobong Okure, Joyce Gosata Maphanyane, Victoria Okure, Alìck Muvundika

Aroids or Cocoyam are often referred to as "women's crops" because women dominate the value chain. Women are primarily responsible for producing, processing, and sales of this root plant, while ensuring a year-round supply. Aroids, i.e. taro (Colocasia esculenta) and tannia (Xanthosoma sagittifolium) are underutilized root crops in the tropical and subtropical regions of developing nations. In Nig

Analysis of the Seismic Performance of Various Irregularly Shaped Concrete Columns on Residential Buildings

J.P.G. Hortillas, K.F. Rivera1, M.P. Martinez

The shape of the columns can affect a structure's seismic resistance. A building's important structural and architectural components are columns. Seismic resistance requires lateral strength and stiffness. Architects and engineers commonly use L-shaped, T-shaped, and plus-shape for composite columns. The researchers assessed the capacity of irregular concrete columns under seismic stress circumsta

Characterization and Beneficiation of Some Nigeria Bentonitic Clays for Formulation of Drilling Mud in Oil and Gas Industry

Benedict O. Edenseting1* , Bassey, E.N2., Babalola, R 3., Gumus, R4

In the quest to develop sustainable materials locally for the drilling industry, the bentonitic potentials of two indigenous clays from Edikor and Ukukudung deposits were studied. The x-ray fluorescence (XRF), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) techniques were used to characterize the beneficiated bentonitic clay samples. This was done to ascertain the chemica
